Knauss Homestead Chapter

The Knauss Homestead Chapter, NSDAR, is dedicated to serving our community in a variety of ways. We are partnering with the Knauss Homestead Preservation Society to preserve and promote local history through fundraisers and guided tours, as well as seeking additional opportunities to help those less fortunate than ourselves. We support local organizations for military veterans, especially those who are disabled. Our support is strong for the Emmaus High School Angel Network, which provides for students in need as well as their families during holiday breaks. Any woman age 18 years or older who has or believes she has a direct line to a man or woman who provided service to the cause of the American Revolutionary War is encouraged to contact us as we strive to serve those in need.

A Living Legacy of Service

Membership in the DAR is more than an affiliation—it is a commitment to stewardship. The women of the Knauss Homestead Chapter play an active role in:

  • Preserving local and regional history
  • Supporting educational initiatives and historical programming
  • Honoring the lives and contributions of those who came before us
  • Strengthening community ties through service and outreach

Here, that work takes on special meaning. The Homestead itself stands as a tangible connection to the Revolutionary era—a place where stories are not only told, but experienced.

Why It Matters—Now More Than Ever

In a world that moves quickly, places like the Knauss Homestead remind us to pause—to reflect on the sacrifices, resilience, and vision that shaped our nation.

Joining the DAR through the Knauss Homestead Chapter is a way to:

  • Protect and promote authentic local history
  • Ensure future generations understand their roots
  • Contribute to meaningful, visible community impact
  • Be part of a lineage of women dedicated to service

This is not passive preservation. It is active participation in the continuation of the American story.

Rooted in the Past, Working for the Future

The Knauss Homestead Chapter is uniquely positioned to connect national mission with local impact.

Through partnerships, events, and educational programming hosted at the Homestead, chapter members help bring history to life—whether through lectures, living history experiences, or community celebrations like America250.

Every program, every gathering, and every conversation held here reinforces a simple but powerful idea:

History matters—and it depends on those willing to carry it forward.
