Two Communities, One Unforgettable Night: Sunset Salsa Brings More Than 300 to the Knauss Homestead
Dancers, history lovers, friends, and families filled the historic Emmaus property for an evening of music, local flavors, and connection.
EMMAUS, Pa. — Beneath strings of glowing lights, with the Knauss Homestead’s stone walls and historic barn as the backdrop, more than 300 people from across the Lehigh Valley gathered on October 3 for Sunset Salsa—a celebration that brought two communities together on one very memorable dance floor.
Some came for the dancing, the history, or a beautiful fall evening with friends. Together, they made the homestead feel wonderfully alive.
Couples turned beneath the lights as families gathered nearby and guests paused to capture the scene on their phones. Against the weathered wood and stone of the historic property, the evening offered something special: a chance to make new memories in a place that holds so many old ones.
Local food and beverage partners helped keep the celebration going. Franklin Hill Vineyards and Social Still poured drinks throughout the evening, while Roll With It served a generous spread that kept guests fed and happy. Milk Truck supplied a sweet finish with desserts enjoyed between dances and conversations.
For Austin Negron of Sunset Salsa, the evening was about friends, family, fun, and community. That spirit showed in the smiling faces, the busy dance floor, and the people who came together from across the region.
Maggie Fischer of the Knauss Homestead Preservation Society described the gathering as two communities coming together to celebrate and dance on one of the most beautiful fall nights of the year. Sunset Salsa gave dancers a chance to connect with a historic local landmark, while those drawn to the homestead’s history experienced it in a whole new way.
The result was a celebration of what a historic place can mean to the people around it today. The homestead provided the setting; the community brought the energy, warmth, and joy.
Following the enthusiastic turnout, organizers hope to bring more Sunset Salsa evenings to the Knauss Homestead in the future.
The next opportunity to gather is the Fourth Annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 24, from noon to 6 p.m., at the Knauss Homestead, 152 East Main Street (Rear), Emmaus. The festival will feature local artists and crafters, food and drinks, pumpkin painting, and house tours. Admission is free, with registration required. View festival details and reserve a free ticket.
After a night that brought so many people together, there is plenty of reason to come back—and bring a friend.
